Narumugai, in Tamil, translates to “a fragrant bud”. We offer our customers a unique selection of weaves that transcend mere clothing; they are symbols of beauty, individuality, and personal expression, much like blossoms in a garden. Narumugai was founded and is currently led by a remarkable person with an unwavering passion for her craft.

Ramya Paulpandian, a native of Tamilnadu, India, possesses a strong background in software engineering, having earned her Computer Science bachelor's degree with distinction from the prestigious MIT Campus, Anna University. She has accrued nearly a decade of experience as a software professional, working with renowned companies such as SAP, Coca-Cola, Sothebys, and others. Her deep fascination with Indian ethnic wear, particularly her zeal for discovering rare Indian weaves, is at the heart of Narumugai. The analogy of Narumugai to a flower mirrors her passion—no matter how many times you've beheld a flower, it never fails to evoke a sense of freshness. Despite her illustrious career, Ramya's passion continued to grow, leading her to make the bold transition from the software industry to entrepreneurship to pursue her dreams.

India is a treasure trove of artistic diversity, with a rich history of weaving and craftsmanship deeply rooted in our traditions and cultural tapestry. To us, a saree represents more than just a piece of art; it embodies India's cultural legacy and pride, a timeless heirloom passed down through generations. Our vision is to showcase the exceptional work of our finest artisans to the world, while our mission is to pass down our core cultural values and captivating art to the generations residing outside our homeland.
